Caring for Your Dentures
At Aqua Dental in Randolph we teach our patients how to maintain a great smile as well as great oral health.
We take the extra time to explain to our patients with new dentures that they need to adjust they're oral hygiene routine to preserve the dentures, and keep them looking great.
As with your natural teeth, brushing and flossing regularly is important to do with your dentures as well. At Aqua Dental we give our patients a special denture brush, this brush is a lot like a tooth brush but the bristles are a lot softer to avoid scratching or wearing down the denture.
Regular toothpaste and house hold cleaners are not recommended to be used on dentures it can be to abrasive and can scratch and damage the denture. We recommend using a cleanser made for dentures such as a denture paste, cleansing solution or effervescent tablet, or even mild hand soap can be used.
Most people cleanse they're dentures over the sink, it is important to get into the habit of placing a soft towel underneath the area to prevent them for dropping on a hard surface and breaking. You also want to become familiar with your denture and any attachments it may have it is important to handle these attachments with care so that they do not break.
Cleaning the dentures twice a day as you would with your natural teeth. After meals if brushing is not possible it is important to at least rinse your mouth out to wash away anything left behind, or stuck in between the teeth.
Starting good habits and caring for your denture daily will help maintain the appearance and maximize the durability of the denture for many years to come. If you are interested in getting dentures please call our office Aqua Dental in Randolph for a consultation.
